From Rev Hilary Le Seve - Priest in Charge

Welcome to St Bartholomew's Church. I hope that you find a warm welcome with us and in our church should you wish to come to visit us.

Wickham Bishops is a village of around 2000 people situated in a picturesque part of North Essex. We are surrounded by some beautiful woods and countryside and a popular destination for local walking groups. We keep our church open throughout daylight hours and are privileged to welcome a good number of visitors.

Our church, built in 1850 by the Leigh family, is at the heart of village life. It replaced a much older building at the other end of the village which is now maintained by the Friends of friendless churches- and used by us once a year at Rogation time

Around sixty people, drawn from all age groups join us for worship on Sunday morning. Our worship is a mixture of modern and traditional styles. It is our aim to value each and every member of our church community and to support each other as we live out the Christian life together.

There are a number of groups and activities that take place during the week that seek to provide pastoral support, fellowship and nurture in the faith- please do check out the relevant pages on the web site if you would like to find out more.

We are very blessed to have an excellent church hall that is attached to the church and used by a number of community groups as well as for family celebrations etc..

Do take the time to browse our website. If you have any questions or enquiries please do contact one of the ministry team through the 'Meet the Team' page.

May God bless you with his Grace and Peace

Rev Hilary
